I Tried It / Revlon Photoready BB Cream

I first read about BB creams around a year ago and it seems like they have become the newest craze. A bought a fancy one from duty-free after one of her trips, but with my student budget I haven’t been willing to shell out the money. It seems like in the past few months all of the cosmetics companies have been coming out with their own versions so there are some more reasonably priced options out there now. When I found the Revlon Photoready BB Cream on sale I decided I might as well try it out. I haven’t tried any other BB creams yet, so I don’t have much to compare it to but I’ll give you my thoughts so far. I love that it has 30 SPF; A and I are both big on protecting our faces from the sun, but I find it hard to find good facial moisturizers that include SPF so this lets me skip that step. The cream is light and odorless so it doesn’t have that “heavy” make-up feeling that some foundations can have. I got the medium shade and it matches my skin tone (at least for now with my surfing tan from Costa Rica!) and blends in well. I definitely feel more polished when I’m wearing it, but I have to admit I was expecting a bit more after all of the hype over BB creams. I’m tempted to buy one of the Korean BB creams off of Amazon when I finish this one. Have you jumped on the BB cream bandwagon? Let me know!

Hey! I recently bought a BB cream: Dr Jart+ Black Label Detox. It was a bit pricey ($36) but I like it. It’s specifically for acne prone skin, but has all the other BB stuff like SPF, moisturizers, etc. I find that it really calms the redness and reduces the look of blemishes, and prevents shine for most of the day (especially on my forehead, which tends to get really shiny). But, it only comes in one shade which will be too light for me once summer comes around. I also have to put my own moisturizer on my cheeks first because they are dry in the winter and the BB cream is just not enough. Other than that, I’m satisfied. It’s light, easy to use and really improves the way my skin looks. I’ve worn mineral makeup over it too and that works nicely for when I’m going out.

sometimes I still put my moisturizer on before the bb cream too, but just the regular one without spf! my skin tends to get dry in the winter as well so the extra layer of moisturizer helps. I haven’t used mineral makeup… what is it?

I use BareMinerals. Essentially like a loose powder that is supposed to be better for your skin than other kinds of makeup because it doesn’t have many of the chemicals. It’s fairly light. I think in reality most makeup is ‘mineral’ makeup in a way because most of the ingredients are the same, except ‘mineral’ makeup just leaves out many of the supposedly bad ones.

I’ve been trying dream fresh from maybeline since christmas. It’s okay. Though not enough coverage for me. I’ve had a tube of Mac’s tinted moisturizer fors years now, and am in love with it, so I might try their bb cream when I run out. Yeah, I agree, I’ve heard about bb creams for so long and expected much more. I guess you just have to find the right one.

I think I’ll definitely try one of the Korean ones once I’m done this one because I think those are supposed to be the really “magical” ones! I was reading something about skin79 on a beauty site the other day and it seems fairly cheap on amazon so maybe i’ll check it out.
